Learning Disabilities

A learning disability or specific learning disorder, assumes that a child or teen is as cognitively proficient as their same-aged peers, however, due to a neurological disorder, they are wired to learn differently.

As such, even though they are as intellectually capable, they are disadvantaged when it comes to learning how to read, express themselves in writing, or reasoning mathematically. Children with learning disabilities often struggle to meet their academic potential without appropriate identification and support. This is why it is crucial to identify a learning disability through a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment as early as possible, to reduce the amount of remediation or catch up that is required.
